ON BOARD MV ORION

At mealtime, guests are treated to the creative culinary talents of multi-award winning Sydney Chef Serge Dansereau, of Bather's Pavilion fame. Dansereau custom-designs menus for every itinerary to showcase the local produce and flavours of the destination, pairing each menu with exceptional wines from Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Meals are enjoyed at leisure - free of fixed table assignments - in Orion's Constellation Restaurant. The Leda Lounge and Cocktail Bar host expedition and golf day briefings and evening entertainment, while the Galaxy Observation Lounge accompanies its early breakfast and afternoon tea with 270o views. The Delphinus Outdoor Cafe provides a casual setting for buffet breakfast and lunch, and, weather permitting, popular outdoors al fresco dining.

Twenty-four hour room service is also available.

The gastronomic delights of the Gourmet Cruise - as Orion cruises along New Zealand's stunning east coast - will be balanced by Orion's specialist expedition team ensuring plenty of activities ashore for guests to work up an appetite including world-class golf.

Failing that, one can always rely on Orion's gym, sauna, spa and masseuse to help keep one trim.

Sunday 21st 
  • Board MV Orion in Lyttleton Harbour (afternoon from 15.30)
  • Welcome Cocktails and sail away! (17.30)
Monday 22nd
  • Arrival in Wellington. All passengers enjoy a walking tour of Te Papa Museum followed by golf at Royal Wellington (Full golfers only)
Tuesday 23rd
  • Cruise to Queen Charlotte Sound at the north of the South Island for zodiac excursions before sailing on to Hawkes Bay for two nights
Wednesday 24th
  • Napier. Full and light golfers play 1st round at Cape Kidnappers. Tourers to visit the Gannett Colony from the Clubhouse.
Thursday 25th
  • Full golfers play 2nd round at Cape Kidnappers whilst Tourers/Light Golfers enjoy an art deco tour and a winery visit.
Friday 26th
  • Full day at sea
Saturday 27th
  • Whangaroa. Light and Full golfers play Kauri Cliffs.
  • Tourers visit Paihia, Bay of Islands.
Sunday 28th
  • Full golfers play 2nd round at Kauri Cliffs.
  • Tourers/Light Golfers visit Waitangi Treaty site and Russell.
  • Evening - Golf Awards and sail to Auckland.
Monday March 1st
  • Arrive in Auckland and disembark for optional accommodation or depart for home.
